Jennifer Larson and her husband Jim are the parents of two wonderful children, Adam 11, and Kadin 6.  Adam was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at the age of 22 months in November 1998.  Following Adam’s diagnosis of autism Ms. Larson co-founded ANGEL, Inc. in 2000 to help guide parents through the many roads of autism, by providing awareness, and give parents hope of knowing that autism is treatable.  She serves as president of the non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  Over the year’s ANGEL, Inc. has helped countless families with information and personal consultations, provided financial grants, held educational seminars and networked parents together.  Jennifer and Adam have been featured in articles in various publications including the Autism Asperger’s Digest.  She and Adam spoke at the capital about living with autism, and have been featured on numerous TV news shows and local radio programs. She is a trained ABA provider, and has taken many classes and courses on various treatments and interventions for children and adults with autism.  In addition to her work with ANGEL, Inc., Ms. Larson has worked with numerous children who are using intensive in-home autism ABA programs.  She has also run successful play groups for children on the autism spectrum.  Her passion is working with, and empowering newly diagnosed children and their families.  She has personal experiences with the GF/CF diet, Bio-medical interventions including the Defeat Autism Now! Protocol and ABA, sensory integration, and play based therapies.

Vice President:
Katie Strain

I am very excited to be the new vice president of A.N.G.E.L. Inc.  I think the mission statement is incredible and the group’s devotion to helping families is so inspiring. Helping others is something that has always been very important to me. Since middle school, I have been an active volunteer in several different types of organizations, all sharing the same goal of making a difference. My experience with autism began in high school. A family in my church posted a need for therapists for their newly diagnosed son. I received training in ABA therapy and became the youngest therapist on his team. I worked with that family for a little over a year and a half before I left home for college. Sophomore year, I applied for a job I saw advertised that was similar to the one I had in high school. I’ve now been working with that family for two years, and am currently employed by WEAP, the Wisconsin Early Autism Project. I also work for the Mind Matters Clinic, helping mainstream a young boy into his preschool class, by improving his language skills and giving him confidence in peer interactions. I’ve attended a handful of autism fundraisers and awareness events in Wisconsin, such as run/walks and the A.N.G.E.L. Harley Ride for Autism. I’ve also gone with fellow coworkers and families to the Capitol Step for Autism rallies, fighting for insurance coverage. These children and their families have touched my life so much that I am proud to give them and the entire autism community my time and dedication.
